Types of hosting solutions

A hosting solution appertains to stashing and/or sharing given content on a web hosting server handled by a web hosting distributor. There are different groups of hosting services utilized for various goals, so let's review these. Doing so, you can pick what you want, depending on whether you wish to own a web page, electronic mail accounts, or to share files with mates and colleagues.

- File hosting: a service delivered by particular file storage providers, which allows you to share big files. These could be disk images, films, audio files, archived documents, and so on. This service is also known as file storage, and its sole function is to share files, since it does not offer web page uploading. The moment the files are uploaded, you will either receive a randomly created download link for each of them, or you will be able to survey a list of all the files in a directory, but you will be unable to see .html or .php web page files in your web browser. Free-of-cost file storage plans frequently involve ads by the download links, while a timer forces you to await a certain period of time to see them. A single file can be downloaded with restricted speed. If you purchase a paid file hosting plan, there are no limits as to how many files you can upload/download at once, and also there is no limit as far as the download speed and the file size are concerned.

At the moment, with the help of the cPanel hosting vendors, "file hosting" is being renamed to the more faddish "cloud hosting". This is a totally unsuitable explanation of the actual meaning of "cloud hosting". An actual cloud website hosting environment would apportion the workload between different stacks of servers in a cluster, which are committed to serving different web page hosting services (mail, web space, statistics, DNS, databases, site hosting CP, and so on.) So, the file hosting service is only a type of a storage space hosting service, not a cloud hosting one. It's not even near.

- Image hosting: akin to file hosting; given suppliers offer a hosting solution for pictures exclusively. This hosting variant is good if you desire to share an enormous amount of images with buddies or partners since the solution is commonly free of cost. You will receive a randomly generated link for every image or album and you can then share this link. As with the file hosting solution, .html and .php files are not supported, so the service cannot be used for websites.

- Email hosting: a service devoted to managing your electronic mail accounts. Some firms provide web hosting solutions for sites, but do not supply an e-mail service. If you want to get an email address with your domain name but do not want to own a site, then the e-mail hosting service is what you require. You can create e-mail box accounts and manage them, but there will be no web solution for the domains. The email hosting service involves incoming POP/IMAP and outgoing SMTP email servers.

- Video hosting: this service allows you to upload and share video clips. You can either share a link to some video file, or you can embed the video in your website that is hosted elsewhere. The advantage of utilizing this approach instead of uploading the video file in a hosting account is that the video file creates a given amount of CPU load, so with a bunch of video files and a few hundred website viewers, you may have difficulty with your web site hosting quotas. Embedding the video file will enable you to keep as many videos as you wish without bothering about system reserves.

- Web page hosting: this is the service that you require if you wish to keep a website. To some extent, it includes all of the aforesaid hosting sorts since, along with your web sites, you can also host images and files, you can have databases and emails, upload video files, etc. At Exaquad, for example, you can have a peek at web hosting and dedicated web hosting packages that allow you to get all of the aforementioned solutions in one location. There may be limits depending on the kind of hosting service that you've opted for - a free hosting package, a paid shared hosting plan, a VPS or a dedicated server. Based on that, your web space hosting package may be better or worse compared with the customary email/file/video/image hosting packages that are purposed for particular content solely.
